Mumbai – Domestic consumer durable company Videocon brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the new range of LED televisions here in Mumbai on Tuesday. The new range of product by Videocon was launched in parternership of Digital Direct Broadcast (DDB). Anirudh Dhoot, Director, Videocon, Chief Marketing Office, SH Bhatia and T Kohyama, Vice President R&D, DDB Foundation were also present at the event.
Speaking at the event Anirudh Dhoot, Director, Videocon said that the revolutionary technology will transform the way consumers view their television. Providing a set-top box less platform to the Indian consumers and enlivening them with true to life audio and video capabilities separated this technology from other players in the market.
Dhoot said that this range of product will not affect the D2H segment sales as both the products are targeted for varied consumers. Dhoot further added, “First we are launching the LEDs in Kerala as festival Onam is nearing. We have already produced 5000 units and later we will cover other Southern states and Maharashtra. By September 15, we would be available in key markets pan India. And we have nearly 25,000 dealers. We are expecting a good sales in the LED segment in coming 4-5 months, given we have Shah Rukh Khan as the brand ambassador.”
He said that in the flat panel display market (FPD) LED sales have risen significantly in the last 1-2 years and LCD sales have dropped. So, there is a huge space for LED television in the market. The Videocon DDB LED will be available in 58”inch, 46”inch, 42”inch and 32”inch. Bollywood star and Videocon brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan speaking at the event said, “We make movies which are 3D and do not get the same quality reception on television and the impact is diluted. Innovation like Videocon DDB will provide viewers an opportunity to witness the future of television technology first hand.”
