Bharti Airtel has acquired 49 per cent stakes in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s Indian broadband wireless entities for USD 165 million approximately.
The acquisition provides Bharti an access to leading regions of Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala, in addition to Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra. With this acquisition, Bharti will acquire a pan India broadband presence.
Bharti had recently introduced its 4G services in Kolkata. The partnership will roll out 4G networks on LTE TDD technology with Qualcomm to provide technical support on network architecture and optimisation, infrastructure and device testing.
