Former Haryana CM Chautala along with his son and 53 others convicted by the Delhi Court in more than 3000 junior basic trained (JBT) teachers illegal recruitment.
NEW DELHI: Om Prakash Chautala, the former Chief Minister of Haryana has been convicted and arrested in the Recruitment Scam. Chautala along with his son Ajay and 53 others has been convicted by a Delhi court today over illegal recruitment in the state of more than 3000 junior basic trained (JBT) teachers.
All the convicts have been taken into judicial custody after the court conviction. The quantum of sentence would be pronounced on January 22. The hearing of arguments on sentence will be held on January 17, 19 and 21.
The court also convicted Sanjiv Kumar, then director of primary education, former officer on special duty Vidya Dhar and Sher Singh Badshami, political adviser to the then Haryana CM in the case.
Special CBI Judge Vinod Kumar held Chautala, his son and others guilty of offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
All the convicts are charged under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the IPC and provisions of the PCA after Vinod Kumar, the Special CBI Judge held Chautalas and others guilty of corruption under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
