Jaswant Singh to contest Vice President Election for NDA against Hamid Ansari of UPA.
New Delhi: The NDA has announced Jaswant Singh as its candidate for the post of Vice President of the India. While announcing Singh’s name senior BJP leader LK Advani said on Monday that there was complete unanimity on the name of the Member of Parliament from Darjeeling.
Advani while addressing the media in the national capital said, “Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh is NDA's Vice Presidential candidate”. Advani also clarified that the name of NDA convener Sharad Yadav was also discussed but on that the JD (U) was not keen”.
On UPA’s nominee and incumbent Vice President Hamid Ansari, Advani said that they did not approve his name because of the role that he played in ruining the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha on December 29, 2011.
