Tehran: The Radio Iran has broadcast the news that Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead after receiving severe injuries from an air strike against an Iraqi target last month.
However, the news is unconfirmed. The official confirmation from intelligence agencies involved in the operations or defence forces of countries that are involved in military operations against the Islamic State is yet to be reported.
US-led western powers and Arab forces are engaged in an air campaign against Baghdadi's so-called Islamic State, a jihadist group that has seized cities in Syria and northern Iraq.
