Mumbai: The Bombay High Court judge suspended Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s 5-year sentence in the 2002 hit-and-run case and granted him bail pending his appeal against conviction. The actor is released on a fresh bail bond of Rs 30,000.
The court will issue orders on 15th June, and the hearing on actor's plea will take place in the month of July.?
The Bombay High Court judge Abhay Thipsay said, “He has been on bail for a long time and his liberty was not shortened normally, in such cases, the appeal is admitted and an accused is granted bail.”
Delivering the decision in the case that was pulled on for over 13 years, sessions court judge DW Deshpande on Wednesday had pronounced "all charges" against the actor as proved that included the serious charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, in addition of other offences, including rash and negligent driving under influence of liquor.
