The Bombay superstar Rajesh Khanna (70) died in Mumbai. Death of the superstar has created a big hole in the film universe.
Mumbai: First Bollywood Superstar Rajesh Khanna passed away at his Aashirwad bungalow on Wednesday afternoon. Khanna 70 was ailing since April And was admitted in Lilavati hospital. But his health deteriorated after being discharged from hospital on Monday and was put on ventilator.
The news of his ill health came first when it was said that the superstar has stopped taking food. But then the actor consoled his ardent fans by appearing at the balcony of his Aaashiwad bungalow, waving hands towards them with a visctory sign with his son-in-law Akshay Kumar. But the very next day he was again rushed to hospital and was put on observation.
Rajesh Khanna was born in 1942 as Jatin Khanna and was adopted by his relatives in Mumbai. He married to film actress Dimple Kapadia. He was fondly called as ‘Kaka’ and debuted into Bollywood with film, ‘Aakhri Khat’ in 1966.
Khanna was style icon of his era and acted in more than 140 films. He ruled the silver screen in late 60’s and 70’s. The term superstar was especially coined for him after he delivered 15 consucative super hits between 1969 to 1971. Aaradhana, Kati Patang, Anand, Haathi Mere Saathi, Ittefaq, Safar, Amar Prem are few hits and the list goes on.
