Kolkata: Ushering in discomfort for the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal , the CBI on Friday filed the final supplementary chargesheet naming GJM’s top leaders Bimal Gurung, Roshan Giri , Harka Bahadhur Chetri and some others in the murder case of Madan Tamang in the year 2010.

The chargesheet was filed before the court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Calcutta Civil and Sessions Court, Bichar Bhavan, Kolkata in the sensational case relating to alleged murder of Shri Madan Tamang, President of a private organization of Darjeeling (West Bengal). The CBI has slapped charges of murder, criminal conspiracy,rioting armed with grievous weapons and other stringent sections against the 23 named  in the chargesheet.

Among the prominent leaders of GJM whose name has figured in the chargesheet are Bimal Gurung, the president/ head  of GJM, Roshan Giri, the general secretary of GJM, Harka bahadur Chetri, press secretary of the Morcha, Binoy Tamang, assistant general secretary of Morcha, Asha Gurung(wife of Bimal Gurung), head  of the woman’s wing of GJM. 

CBI registered the case and took over the investigation of the murder case Sadar Police Station, Darjeeling (West Bengal) dated May 21, 2010 under section 147, 148, 149, 427, 506, 302, 120-B of IPC and added Section 34 of IPC.

It was alleged in the FIR that at around 09.20 AM on May 21st, 2010 while Madan Tamang was busy in the preparation of a public meeting at Club side Motor Stand of Darjeeling, a gang of another private organisation who were armed with deadly weapons suddenly attacked the supporters of the private organisation headed by Madan Tamang. In this attack, Madan Tamang sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.
