SC expresses shock over online rape videos

4/13/2015 5:53:54 PM

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India expressed shock over the gang rape videos posted on internet today. In the first week of February Sunitha Krishnan edited and posted a video of gang rape on Youtube.

The Apex Court was shocked when Sunitha’s lawyer informed the bench headed by Justice Madan B. Lokur that she found 90 more shocking online footages, which she received from the victims who were raped. The victims wanted that the investigation should be brought to the CBI.

Sunitha, who is also a rape survivor began an online campaign called #ShameTheRapistCampaign and requested the   viewers to help her in identifying the rapist. Krishnan was gang-raped by eight men when she was barely 15 years old. She moved the case to the apex court as police did not arrest the men who were clearly visible in the video.
